You can now send a WhatsApp message template in a Journey.


To configure a contact-based journey that sends a WhatsApp message:

  • In your Force24 account, navigate to Journey Manager.
  • Click 'Create new' to create a new journey from scratch or click ‘edit’ on an existing journey to begin editing.
  • In the right hand panel, drag and drop the ‘Apps’ component onto the journey builder.
  • Within the pop out modal, select the ‘Whatsapp’ app.

  • Once you have selected ‘Whatsapp’ you will be able to select an existing connector from the dropdown, or press '...' to create a new connector; or alternatively, if you have never used the 'whatsapp' app within apps in journeys, you will be required to first auth the app.

To Auth the app for the first time, you will need to follow the instructions here to generate a permanent access token, generating an API key, business account ID, and business phone number ID.

  • Once these have been inputted, ensure you name the whatsapp connection, and press 'next'.
  • After completing this, you will be able to preview and select a template created within your whatsapp business account. **Templates must be created within the account first, and cannot include personalisation within.
  • After you have selected your template, you are now able to press 'add to journey' and use the whatsapp message within your journey.



Whatsapp subscriptions must be managed within your account appropriately, and contacts must be opted in to receive the content. By default Whatsapp is unsubscribed for all contacts, until this is updated within contact search/journey subscription preferences. To read more about Whatsapp preferences, click here.
