When editing microsite pages in Force24, you’ll use four main modes: layout, content, container selection, and preview. Each mode serves a different purpose and gives you control over how your microsite is structured and styled. This article explains how to access each mode and what you can do within them.

Here are how you enter the two main modes:

  • To enter layout mode, click anywhere outside of the page content area.

  • To switch to content mode, click anywhere inside the page content area.

Layout Mode

When you first open a microsite page, you are in layout mode. This mode allows you to drag in and arrange content snippets, adjust alignment, and save or reuse elements.
If you are in content mode (black bar at the top is open), you can return to layout mode by clicking anywhere outside of the page content area.

In layout mode, you can use the toolbar on the right-hand side:

  • Click the "<" icon to expand the toolbar

  • Select a category or search using tags to find snippets

  • Drag snippets into your page layout

When you hover over a placed snippet, a blue bar appears with several icon options:

  • Up/down arrows - move the snippet above or below other snippets

  • Duplicate icon - create a copy of the snippet

  • Bin icon - delete the snippet

  • Plus icon - save the snippet

  • Eye icon - turn the snippet into a Genius Block (learn more about Genius Blocks)

Content Mode

Clicking inside the page content area brings you into content mode. Here, you can edit text and media within snippets.

  • A black editing bar appears at the top of the page

  • Click directly on text to start editing it

The content toolbar includes:

  • Text styling: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, subscript, superscript

  • Font settings: font family, text size, colour, highlight, line spacing

  • Text alignment: align/justify, bullet lists, indent options

  • Insert options: link, image, video, table

  • Formatting tools: special characters, horizontal line, clear formatting

  • Utilities: help, code view, undo, redo

You’ll also find tools for adding:

  • CTA buttons

  • Forms

  • Personalisation

  • AI-generated content

To exit content mode and return to layout mode, click anywhere outside of the page.

Container Selection Mode

While in content mode, you can click the container selection icon in the black editing bar to enter container selection mode.

This mode lets you select and edit container areas within your microsite layout. Containers can hold content, and other smaller containers. They control structural styling, such as:

  • Background colour and images

  • Padding and margins

  • Other container-level properties

This is especially useful when applying consistent design elements across multiple snippets.

Preview Mode

To see what your microsite looks like to a visitor on the live site, click the eye icon on the right-hand toolbar.

This opens preview mode, where you can check how your content appears before publishing.
