If you’ve published an updated version of your microsite but the live version still looks out of date, the most likely cause is that your browser is showing you a 'cached' version of the page. Browsers often save versions of sites to help them load faster, but this can prevent you from seeing the most up-to-date version immediately after a change.

How to clear your cache

Clearing your cache and doing a hard reload will usually resolve this. Here’s how to do it based on your browser:

Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and other Chrome-Based Browsers

  1. Right click anywhere on the page and click Inspect

  2. A panel will open on the right - you can ignore this

  3. Right click on the refresh button next to the address bar

  4. Select Empty cache and hard reload/refresh

  5. You can now close the code panel using the ‘x’ in the top right

Firefox

  1. Click the padlock icon to the left of the URL bar

  2. Choose Clear Cookies and Site Data at the bottom of the menu

  3. Make sure only your site is selected

  4. Click Remove

  5. Refresh the website. You may need to log in again

Safari

  1. Click Safari in the top menu

  2. Select Preferences

  3. Go to the Advanced tab

  4. Tick Show Develop menu in menu bar

  5. From the top menu, click Develop and choose Empty Caches

  6. Reload the page
